Stationery enthusiast.
People who don’t think the stationery department in a department store is a beautiful sight might as well leave now, because this post, ladies and gentlemen, is about my unconditional love for stationery – specifically pens, coloured pens and mechanical pencils. I consider today to be a good day because I just completed my set of 12 Dong-A Hexaplus Fineliners!
![]() The day I came across these very reasonably priced coloured pens at Hua Ho was one of the best days of my life, stationery-wise. Remember these Stabilo coloured pens? They were good, no doubt about that, and very popular. Only $0.90 when they first came out, but then quality went flying out the window and prices increased to $1.10. I first bought my set of Stabilo pens when I was like, in Form 1. They lasted me about three years. Sure, I didn't have much use for them in Form 3 and Form 4 – I was going through a scribbling-everywhere-in-black-gel-pen phase – but this year, my love for colours came back and I realized that I definitely needed to refresh my stock of coloured pens. I noticed that Stabilo had increased their prices and walked away from the tray, a little disappointed at the increase in price and design. Staedtler’s Triplus Rollers caught my eye but were a little too pricey for me. They’re amazing, though, I’ve tried them out. Then, while searching for a mechanical pencil I had seen a few people using – turned out to be Pilot’s new 0.5 NeXtage Shaker – I came across the Hexaplus Fineliners. And that’s the story of how I started buying a few every month and now, about three months later, I have the entire set. I’m a lucky, lucky girl. :DD On the topic of coloured pens.. My Biology tuition teacher is a colour lover and her notes are literally all colours of the rainbow. She uses these fantastic glitter pens which have fruity scents – the scent varying with each colour. I never quite liked glitter pens but one day, while messing around Ella’s pencil case, I found a few and realized that if used well, they can be quite pretty. So I asked my teacher a favour and she bought me a set of 12, only for $2.90! Is that cheap or what?! I enjoyed my first night with them, sniffing the scents and everything. Grape and Strawberry have got to be my favourite. :DD ![]() Aside from a few tiny notes from Ells, a letter from the Josh Osman and a 'I love you bestie' written in pink and purple from Maria, this is what is in my pencil-case, as of 12th July 2009. ![]() My choice of pencil-case – Morgirl design, 9.5” by 5”, black and gold in colour, black lining on the inside and a very thoughtful birthday present from Joey Chen! Jasmine got me a really pretty pink and white pencil-case too but it’s a little smaller and being the stationery enthusiast I am, I went for the larger one. xDD Morgirl products are pretty sweet, except their company obviously does not use spell-check. This case has ‘FRIERDS 4EVER’ printed on it. Awesome, eh? ![]() These days, I like using Pilot’s 0.5 Super Gel pens in black and blue. I just bought two new pieces today, actually, because my old ones were running out of ink. Thanks to whoever left this lying around my classroom because I never really gave a rat’s ass about this pen before that day. ![]() These were the pens I used when I was going through my scribble-everywhere-in-black-gel phase – Pilot’s 0.38, 0.5 and 0.7 G2 pens. Unfortunately, the 0.38s are only available in Malaysia. I was lucky enough to be able to get one from Andy. Well, steal. But same difference, right? xDD G2 pens also come in miniature sizes. Really cute. They don’t tickle my fancy though. ![]() These are the pencils in my case at the moment. Yes, they’re not the only ones I own. I have a whole drawer full of spares but these are by far my favourite. First one on the top is the 0.5 Carbon NeXtage Shaker. It actually looks like this but I switched the pattern of the Carbon and the Stripe to give the first two a snazzy look. Besides, the second is the closest I can get to a black and white polka dot mechanical pencil. They should totally make those! The third one is a 0.7 Dong-A pencil. Pretty pricey –$2.50. Nothing compared to the NeXtage Shakers though – $3.00! The fourth one is a regular wooden pencil – everyone needs one of those. I can’t remember what brand it is but this was my last stick. :C The pencils came in different colours! I bought two boxes back in Form 3 and used them all. The fifth and last one is a blue 0.7 Faber Castle Tri-Click and my favourite at the moment. ![]() Butterfly hair clip – in case needed – 0.5 Buncho and 0.7 Faber Castle leads, black Stabilo Exam Grade erasers – I usually use white Staedtler rasoplasts but the black Stabilos are my second choice – Toyo non-toxic glue stick – thanks for introducing me to this brand, Jas, it’s definitely better than Uhu – a mini pink stapler and pink stapler refills. ![]() The Elsoon mechanical eraser has proved to be pretty useful for erasing small parts of diagrams or calculations. The Stabilo Swing-Cool purple and pink highlighters are definitely good – even though I barely use them as I use the Dong-A Fineliners as highlighters instead. Pilot Extra Fine marker is only the best, although the one I have at the moment is totally out of ink and needs to be replaced. And the Pentel correction pen always helps me relax when I find out that I’ve made a spelling mistake. Or, you know, when Maria’s left arm flies across the table and messes up my writing. Which it does very frequently, believe me. Three rulers – the blue one acts as a stencil and I have a back-up ruler because everyone knows that I’m the Queen of losing rulers. I had six in my pencil-case in February. Now I have three. Do the math. ![]() Faber Castle 0.5mm Super Fine ball pens – these used to be my favourite at one point but I couldn’t resist my love for inky pens so I barely use these. They have extremely fine tips though, so if you like sharp tipped pens, these are definitely for you. ![]() And these, these were a totally lucky find. I was at Soon Lee – the price sticker gave it away, I bet – to get Ella’s birthday present and, naturally, I couldn’t resist checking out the stationery tray for anything new and I found these. Only $0.60 each! Sadly, they only came in two colours. The orange and purple one writes in purple ink and the black and purple one writes in black ink. 0.5mm tips – they write pretty well. :DD Now you know what’s exactly in my pencil-case. I realize I sound slightly psycho, talking about stationery, but hey. Some collect stamps, others collect shells – I collect stationery. And I love my collection and I thought I’d show part of it off today. C; |

Another update.
So, as you can see, new layout! I’ve had my eye on this one for a while now but the original needed a lot of work on the size and I wasn’t feeling up to it till this morning. What inspired the change was Aime’s and Chelsea’s blogs. Aime’s blog inspired the clean, professional look and Chelsea’s blog inspired the amazing Century Gothic font. I also thought that my old layout was a little too lollipops and candycanes. Besides, I’m going through this phase where I think smoking is cool. Not that I smoke or anything. So, thanks to my CSS skillz, I transformed this into what you’re looking at right now! :DD Not bad eh?
So school’s back on and even though I still spend quite a lot of time online, I’m using school as an excuse to not reply to roleplays. I’m not sure why, but yeah. I don’t feel like writing at the moment. Even my debate speech for the semi-finals was practically written for me. Speaking of which, the semi-finals were supposed to be yesterday but got postponed ‘cause a couple of the debaters – Iza on our side and two, I heard, from Chung Hwa – aren’t feeling too well. Mr. Morris decided to buy us some time. I was pretty okay with it being yesterday but, yeah, whatever. .. I don’t have much to say. Quite a few things have happened that I’ve not blogged about – several chica-ing days at Ells’ place, BBQ & Fondue Night at Doreen’s, the 17th June Excapade – but pictures are up on Facebook so, go nuts! Speaking of Ella’s place, I love it. I just feel so free and happy when I’m there, because I know that there’s chocolate, liquor and ice-cream in the fridge that I can help myself to. xDDD I’m going over on Tuesday, in fact. We’re gonna go on a Harry Potter movie marathon! I’m totally excited! C: My mid-year exam results aren’t all that great. Even English was crap. Mar, seriously! How are cockroaches and maggots better than Chuck and Nate?! Dude. The Drama Club gig – after being completely organized by Hafiz – was canceled, yet again! God, it was horrible. I thought it was a joke. Around 300 people had RSVP-ed on Facebook – 60+ confirmations and 250+ maybes. It was going to be epic! But because of the whole Swine Flu outbreak, the office didn’t allow it. :C So the Form5s got together before the holidays and decided that we were going to have a Senior Prom after our O’s. Preparations have been going pretty well, thanks to Maria, who helped put together a committee and assigned each member a job. We’ve checked out Sheraton Utama and iLotus, so far, and are planning on checking out Kiulap Plaza pretty soon. Sheraton looks promising, though. One of the staff members has been in touch with us and by the looks of it, I’m pretty sure we’re going to end up having it at Sheraton. We’re trying to keep our options open, though. Sorry guys, it’s a Form5 only thing but if you have friends in Form5, you can get them to invite you if they’re not already bringing someone. C: Tickets are not available yet but as soon as we’ve decided on a venue and price, I’ll let you know. C: Aside from A. Maths homework, boring nights at tuition and a potential crush and good friend, life’s pretty much the same. I wish I had had a better weekend. I’ll write again soon, hopefully. For now, I’m desperately trying to go back to my old old old reading schedule. |

MJ. <3
So I promised myself that I wouldn't do this - mainly because I don't know the man enough - but after being forced to watch the CNN updates on this pop icon, I feel like I should acknowledge his death. Michael Jackson was a great man - there's no doubt about that. Every living human being on this planet knows his name, even if they're not a fan. His music was really good and he definitely had a good heart. People can think what they want to - I choose to believe that Michael never hurt a single child. He loved children - he had three of his own. Anyone with half a brain would know that a father would never do that to someone else's child because he knows what their parents would feel like, since he's a parent himself. As for all the cosmetic surgery, that was his personal life. People can go ahead and make fun of the changes he made, but have you ever stopped to think that, maybe, he made those changes to express himself? It's okay when someone gets a tattoo, or has a nosejob. What's wrong with someone changing their skin colour? Michael was just trying to express himself, or at least, that's what I believe.
I have to admit that I was never a hardcore fan. I've heard a few of his songs but Michael was never a significant part of my life till the day he died. It really sucks how, most of the time, it takes a person's death for people to notice him/her. It sucks that Michael's songs haven't been played on the radio for decades, except these days, and that too, only because he died. " When death happens, we appreciate life. " - Richelle. ![]() Michael Joseph Jackson August 29, 1958 – June 25, 2009. Rest in peace, King of Pop. |

Everything I've learned in life, I learnt it from the Winchesters.
![]() People who don't watch Supernatural are missing out on one of the best things in life. Sure, it's scary, but once you learn how to tune yourself in and out of the show, you're going to want to watch it over and over again. When I say tune in and out, I mean tuning your head to believe in paranormal things while watching the show and tuning out once you're done watching. First-time watchers are probably going to be scared shitless. I recommend the Bloody Mary episode for the first watch. xDD Even I'm scared of that episode. Worst.. episode.. EVER. God. -knees start wobbling- TUNING OUT NOW. Back to what this post is supposed to be about.. Once you become a regular watcher of Supernatural, nothing else seems scary anymore. All other horror movies/shows seem like shit. You feel like the vampires of Twilight are dumb, because in Supernatural, vampires are rowdy party animals. In Supernatural, vampires mate for life. In Supernatural, the only way to weaken a vampire is by introducing a dead man's blood into their blood stream, and the only way to kill them is by cutting off their heads. In Supernatural, salt is your best friend. Line your doors and windows with salt to keep demons away. Free yourself from spirits that won't seem to leave you alone? Give them a round of rock salt. Always have salt on hand - low-sodium is for freaks. ![]() Supernatural teaches you never to buy somebody else's family portrait. Supernatural teaches you simple and hilarious ways to find out whether or not your friends and family are being posessed by demons - firstly, slip some holy water into their beer. Does taking a sip of that make their throat burn? Yes? Possessed! No holy water on hand? Do not fear! Whisper 'Cristo' in a low voice while around them. Do they cringe? Yes? Possessed! Because Cristo is God in Latin. Supernatural teaches you how to deal with your scared kids who claim that there is something living in their closet - give them a 45". And Supernatural teaches you to always, ALWAYS, stay inside the magic circle. Dean Winchester is a significant part of my life. He taught me that..
![]() And as for Sam Winchester? ![]() Sam Winchester's smile once brought a dead puppy dog back to life. Sam Winchester can set ants on fire with a magnifying glass.. at night! Sam Winchester can divide by zero. Sam Winchester got a perfect score for his SATs, simply by writing 'Sam Winchester' for every answer. The only time Sam Winchester was wrong was when he thought he made a mistake. Sam Winchester does not use spellcheck. If he happens to misspell a word, dictionaries will simply change the actual spelling of it. ![]() Outer space exists because it's afraid to be on the same planet as the Winchesters. If there is one thing perfect in life, it's the Winchesters. And if you want a list of the Winchesters' enemies, just check the list of species that are extinct. The Winchesters are awesome, period. I love Supernatural. |
